Explanation
This fund was established with $506,454.46 received from The Ray G. Besing Testamentary Trust in June 2023 for charitable purposes set forth in the Trust Agreement, specifically to care for the poor and disadvantaged residents under the pastoral care of the Anglican parishes in Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya.
The Anglican Church in Kenya (ACK) affirms the understanding that the funds shall remain in perpetuity at the DFMS who will provide investment management and whose distributions will be used exclusively for the purpose of Anglican ministry to the poor in the Kibera Slum. The Kibera Slum is under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of All Saints Cathedral. ACK has established a Besing Trust Fund for Anglican Ministry in Kibera at All Saints’ Cathedral Diocese to develop and implement programs benefitting the poor, sick, and homeless people of Kibera Slum. ACK promises that the funds shall be administered by the diocese through the finance department and strict financial procedures and policy in place. ACK shall submit a quarterly report detailing the use of the funds and such other reports as may be required by the DFMS from time to time
This is a trustee-type fund, meaning that the DFMS is the trustee for these funds and will distribute to the beneficiary, The Besing Trust Fund for Anglican Ministry in Kibera, annual dividends as declared by Executive Council.
