Explanation
This grant is a request for support from the Trinity School for Christian Ministry (TSCM) in the diocese of Taiwan at the urging of the Right Reverend Lennon Yuan Rung Chang. It is supported by the Rev. Cn. Bruce W. Woodcock, Episcopal Church partnership officer for Asia and the Pacific, as well as management. The project will continue to be an incubator and center for ministry among and for persons of Chinese ancestry in Taiwan.
The DFMS triennial budget provides $68,000 annually in a non-competitive block grant from the China Fund for the Diocese of Taiwan. The Diocese is expanding its focus on clergy and lay leadership training in partnership with St. John’s University in Taipei, and the Methodist Church. The proposed $30,000 is specifically for the development and support for education and training programs for clergy and laity, for the 2021-2022 academic year.
China Trust funds restricted for Chinese of the Dispersion, as of May 11, 2021 totaled $6,089,709; generating annual dividends of $235,415 in 2020 for allocation in 2021 within three categories: Evangelism at 22% (Mission at $51,791), Education and Training at 69% (Program at $162,436), and Medical at 9% (Scholarships at $21,187). This grant will provide $3,000 for Mission support and $27,000 for Education and Training resources.
